The fact that Amazon is ditching its old format for a more Web-friendly one is a sign that it intends to make the e-reading experience one that’s more akin to Web pages in general. The use of CSS3 gives publishers a whole new toolkit for laying out and designing e-books, and one that utilizes the familiar and relatively simple syntax of stylesheets for the Web.
I’ll re-title this: IE9′s HTML5 support allows web designers the ability to stop retarding their code for Internet Explorer users.
But seriously – in my day job, I still find myself having to “code down” to IE6. And that’s scary.
Via Techcrunch, Sencha has a new timeline-based HTML5 animator. Fair warning, though: Until the rest of the web world gets hip to Webkit (ahem, Microsoft/Mozilla), your sweet-azz renderings will only come to life on Chrome and Safari.
It’s still a spec, people. And if you’re scared of privacy from a behind-the-curtain perspective, don’t Google anything. Ever.
