Astronomers witness star torn apart by a black hole
On March 28, 2011, NASA’s Swift satellite caught a flash of high-energy X-rays pouring in from deep space. Swift is designed to do this, and since its launch in 2004 has seen hundreds of such things, usually caused by stars exploding at the ends of their lives.
But this time was hardly “usual”. It didn’t see a star exploding as a supernova, it saw a star literally getting torn apart as it fell too close to a black hole!
So let’s cut funding for NASA! America! Fuck yes!

I got an interesting message on Facebook from a friend who I haven’t seen/spoke with since college. I was able to sniff out a blatant Phishing attempt from the onset based on the fact that my friend is a native English speaker.

If there were a contest for the dumbest thing said by a Missouri state lawmaker this year, Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, D-University City, would be among the frontrunners.
In a radio interview this week on WGNU-920 AM, Ms. Chappelle-Nadal referred to retired St. Louis investor and political activist Rex Sinquefield as a “billionaire plantation owner.” Mr. Sinquefield is white. Ms. Chappelle-Nadal is black.
