It’s my new go-to place for great coffee. It’s also less than a mile from the office. Dangerous combination!
Indiana State Fair Midway
I thought I’d give Flare for Mac a turn on one of my favorite photos from our trip to the Indiana State Fair.
So, what about those giant arrow-shaped clouds on Titan?
The fascinating clouds, including arrow-shaped ones, that result from the atmospheric waves can cause intense precipitation — sometimes more than 20 times Titan’s average seasonal rainfall — and could be essential in shaping Titan’s surface by erosion.

When in/around Indy, you kinda have to go. At least my tattoo thinks so.
St. Louis beers at Friar Tucks
Holy crap, that’s a lot of local beer!
Rick Perry on the Jeebus’ ability to solve complex problems
Great pull quote from the NY Times on Rick Perry and his over dependence on God & Jesus to tag-team his problems. Problems like the worst drought in decades in Texas, which, obviously, have gone un-answered:
In the four months since Perry’s request for divine intervention, his state has taken a dramatic turn for the worse. Nearly all of Texas is now in “extreme or exceptional” drought, as classified by federal meteorologists, the worst in Texas history.

Hostgator: Best webhost or best-est webhost?
Some of you may know that I recently spun up Gamma Ray Media – my former freelance outfit – into Hercules Design Group. Well, part of that process was to order a new server to host all of my clients. Prior to, oh – a few hours ago – they were hosted on my personal reseller account with Hostgator.
As of now, though, they are on a new 12-core screaming fast box with Hostgator. And migrating the site couldn’t be easier.
I provided the cPanel usernames and Passwords on the old account and Hostgator’s support team moved them for me. All that was left for me to do was confirm that everything was moved over properly via Hostgator’s SWAMP (System for Website Assessment Managed by Proxy, technically a “caching DNS proxy server”, which enabled me to view the accounts before updating DNS configurations), and then if everything checked out, update said DNS configurations to point to the new box.
Totally seamless.
So, if you’re looking for secure, reliable web hosting, look no further. And, I have a deal for you:

Paul Krugman: Credibility, Chutzpah And Debt
I’d say that today’s Krugman is a must-read.
The truth is that as far as the straight economics goes, America’s long-run fiscal problems shouldn’t be all that hard to fix. It’s true that an aging population and rising health care costs will, under current policies, push spending up faster than tax receipts. But the United States has far higher health costs than any other advanced country, and very low taxes by international standards. If we could move even part way toward international norms on both these fronts, our budget problems would be solved.
So why can’t we do that? Because we have a powerful political movement in this country that screamed “death panels” in the face of modest efforts to use Medicare funds more effectively, and preferred to risk financial catastrophe rather than agree to even a penny in additional revenues.
New Family Blog
Loyal readers, adoring fans and folks who happened to stumble upon this website:
I have a new family blog. The link is above. But, just in case, you can also find it here: http://bolenfamily.tumblr.com/
Not that I won’t still post (what I consider to be) “cool” family stuff here, but at least over there, I can throw up pictures of Jane, family trips, et. cetera and not get any “I thought this was a cool place to read about design, tech trends and Apple fanboy rants!”
Plus, since it’s over at Tumblr, it’s hosted and I don’t have to worry about jack squat. It’s easy enough for everyone to use, everyone to comment and everyone to create content. So, there.
