Great find over at Daring Fireball.
Well before the show switched over to computer animation, all sorts of display type in the series suddenly came to be “typeset” in Arial – coincidentally the default font of a Windows user, perhaps in Korea, who has no eye for type.
“Treehouse of Horror XXI” (2010.11.07) took this to ridiculous lengths, particularly in its parody of The Office, which could and ought to have used real Helvetica. (Generic signs like the ones in the Office credits work solely in Helvetica. That’s the whole point!)
