Last night was a very bittersweet evening for classical music fans in the St. Louis Metro area, as culture stalwart KFUO Classic 99 went off the air to Beethoven’s 9th. I listened in bed as the symphony raced to it’s conclusion, and shortly thereafter, the station went static.
This morning, I turned on my car to discover that JOY FM, the new Christian Contemporary station that bought culture off the airwares, had begun broadcasting on 99.1 FM — my bad for not changing the station to other equally snooty options, like our NPR Affiliate, St. Louis Public Radio.
